Yesterday, Bruins fans waited with baited breath for 12:01 pm. The magical hour that Marty Turco cleared waivers and could dawn the black and gold jersey on the ice.

Turco has been brought in to lend some goaltending relief for Tim Thomas after Tuukka Rask suffered a lower abdomen/groin strain mid way through the game against the Islanders this past Saturday. With Khdoubin also suffering an injury in Providence, the Bruins re-called Mike Hutchinson. With Turo clearing waivers, Hutchinson was sent back to Providence yesterday evening.

The look for this week has brought us to Calgary. This look is very laid back and casual. Something absolutely anyone can be comfortable in. Now a Calgary winter is not to be taken lightly which was taken into consideration when crafting this look.

Now although this look is warm, comfortable and supports the Flames it is also cute and fashionable. Aviator jackets are extremely popular this winter. The leopard print accessories not only tie into the colours of the boots and aviator; they also add a fierce and chic element to casual look.

As usual if you do not have these exact things you can always swap them out for similar things you own. This look is merely a guideline, mix’n’match, spice it up and make it your own. Also like always if you love this look and aren’t a Flames fan just change the colour scheme and shirt then voila.

I know we all hate to admit it, but whether it be a losing streak, a scoring slump or just down right bad luck, sometimes it’s hard to keep the faith. For diehard puckers, certain games can be almost painful to watch, sadly reminiscent of past hopeless relationships. Not to worry, here are ten easy ways to rekindle that fanatic flame.

After watching his Toronto Maple Leafs slip out of a playoff spot, GM Brian Burke has fired coach Ron Wilson. Burke had defended Wilson until the end even after fans chanted ‘FIRE WILSON’ at a recent home gain. But a 1-9-1 crash forced the GM to make a move.

“This was not an easy decision for me to make,” Burke said Friday night in a statement to the media.

Burke flew to Montreal to fire his old college roommate in person. Ex-Anaheim coach, Randy Carlyle, is taking over with 18 games left in the season starting Saturday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Burke and Carlyle headed the 2007 Stanley Cup Ducks and hope to drive the Leafs to their first postseason since 2004.

Carlyle has been signed for the remainder of this season as well as the next three years.

It already seems as though the Bruins acquired Brian Rolston and Mike Mottau from the Islanders eons ago. In actuality it’s been 5 days since the trade deadline on February 27th and today marked the first meeting of the two teams since the trading of players earlier in the week. To recap, Islanders received F Yannick Riendeau and D Marc Cantin with both players being assigned to the AHL affiliate Bridgeport Sound Tiger. In comparison, both Bruins acquisitions have played in games this week for Boston.

Patrick Burke has launched the “You Can Play Project“. After losing his brother Brendan, an openly gay athlete two years ago; Burke has made it his mission to bring awareness and acceptance of gay athletes into the sports world. During the Boston Bruins vs. New York Rangers game on Sunday March 4th, 8 NHL Stars will appear in the launch video airing on NBC.

Burke is a good friend of mine and his passion for the project was brought to my attention when I briefly helped with the video filming a few months ago! Click the link below to read more about the video launch and to listen to an interview Burke had with John Buccigross earlier this week.

When the March playoff push came around last season, the snow was mounted high and it seemed like every game night was greeted with snow flurries. Perhaps the change in New England weather and the mini “noreaster” are all the Bruins need to get the puck sliding in the right direction.

The Boston Bruins have been struggling as of late. With a road trip of mixed success behind them and a loss at home against Ottawa on Tuesday, the Bruins will look to turn things around tonight against the New Jersey Devils. The Bruins aren’t the only ones looking to turn tonight’s game into a win. The Devils are coming off a 3 game losing streak with losses to Tampa Bay, Vancouver and the eastern conference leading New York Rangers. Boston sits in the second spot (77 pts) while the Devils are in 7th (74 pts).
