The look this week is for the NHLs newest addition The Winnipeg Jets. Although this look has many aspects of menswear inspired pieces the wedge heel and clutch give this look airs of femininity. This look keeps it casual without looking sloppy, its youthful without looking childish. A perfect way to support the Jets.

As usual if you do not have these exact things you can always swap them out for similar things you own. This look is merely a guideline, mix’n’match, spice it up and make it your own. Also like always if you love this look and aren’t a Jets fan just change the colour scheme and shirt then voila.

Go Jets

Whispers of “there’s always next year” echoed through Leaf Nation Tuesday night as Florida dominated Toronto with a final of 5-2.
Leafs entered the BankAtlantic Center scoreless in their last two games with James Reimer at the guard, a first since implementing coach Randy Carlyle.
The Panthers pulled ahead early with Sean Bergenheim scoring in under a minute of play leaving a nervous Reimer in the net. Florida added to their lead mid-second period with Jason Garrison redirecting a shot past the Leafs’ goalie.
Tyler Bozak breathed life into an extinguished Toronto team with his goal from MacArthur and Kessel, ending a 196.26 minute scoring drought for the Leafs, the longest slump since 1926.
Florida answered with a pair of power play goals in the third to surge ahead of a struggling Toronto.
Grabovski scored to cut the Leaf deficit but to no avail as Bergenheim pushed in an empty net goal with 1:20 left to play.
“You can’t give up 5 goals and expect to win in the NHL,” said Carlyle post-game.
Panthers hang on to 3rd in the East while Toronto claws in twelfth, recording only six out of a possible 34 points in their last 17 games.

Winter Adams Definition:
Ice Hockey
-noun
A game played on ice year round, where once you’re a fan… you’re always a fan. The object being to take numbers, light the lamp and show no mercy. The greatest game on Earth.

Hockey. As far as I’m concerned it’s the best 6 letter word in the dictionary. It’s not just a sport, it’s a lifestyle where everyone is family. The mere mention of the word can bring a smile to both the young, old and everyone in between. Whether it’s 60 minutes on the ice or 60 minutes watching it be played, it’s 60 minutes of bliss. Once you’ve loved the sport, there is no going back.

…is the mask! Goaltenders are a rare species, it takes a certain kind of person to willingly stand in a net and have hard cold pucks shot at you in varying speeds. Goalies tend to be a little on the quirky side. The best part of being a goalie is being able to help design the mask.

While an entire team is uniform, it’s the goalie that get’s to exhibit that tiny bit of flare. More often then not, a mask will exhibit elements important to the goalie. A mask allows the goalie to be individual while still being a part of the team. The folks over at Sports Illustrated compiled a gallery of the goalies masks in the entire NHL. Check em’ out!

There is no joy in Hogtown as Toronto loses their first game of a five game road trip, dropping below 500. The Caps edged out the Maple Leafs 2-0 Sunday night at the Verizon Center in Washington in what was a must-win situation for Toronto. The loss sets the Boys in Blue back eight points from the final spot in the Eastern Conference and almost completely dashes their dreams of post-season play.

Capitals’ net-minder, Michal Neuvirth, made 23 saves to record his third shutout this season while Leafs’ Gustavsson stopped 21 shots in the losing effort. The win solidifies eighth place for Washington with 76 points; the Capitals have now gone 6-2-1 in their last nine games.

Although the match-up highlighted Toronto’s defensive strides, their offence was a complete no show.
“We are starving for offence right now; we need a bounce to go our way,” said Leafs’ coach, Randy Carlyle in a post-game interview.
The Leafs were scoreless in both weekend games, losing to Philadelphia in a shoot-out decision at home on Saturday. An absent Joffrey Lupul, out with a separated shoulder, represents an obvious hole in the Leafs’ top offence-generating line.
With only 13 games remaining Toronto’s post-season hopes look grim. The Leafs will have to win at least ten tough regulation games to even be considered contenders.
Florida hosts Toronto this Tuesday.

After a quick turnover for both teams, the Leafs play Washington today in a do or die game. Toronto must win in regulation to keep their dwindling playoff dreams alive. Less than 18 hours after their shoot out loss to Philly, the Leafs head to Washington wrapping up their series with the Caps. Washington has taken the Leafs in their last two meetings although star Ovechkin is scoreless against Toronto this year. Gustavsson will get his fourth straight start under new coach Carlyle with a .921 save percentage in his last 4 games. The Capitals beat Boston yesterday and sit in 8th spot in the East while the Leafs occupy 12th with 68 points. This match-up marks the beginning of a grueling 5 game road trip for Toronto ending in Boston on March 19.

Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask spoke to the media this morning about his injury, recovery and when he’s hoping to be back on the ice for Boston. Despite the frustrating timing and the 6 week  estimated recovery period, Rask appeared in good spirits. Currently experiencing no pain, Rask hopes to be back in the line up when it comes to the playoff stretch. With Turco unable to play in the playoffs, that would be a welcomed relief for Tim Thomas. For now it’s a day by day process for the Boston goalie.

Sports Illustrated made a few enemies today by using the term “Puck Bunny” to refer to female hockey fans. A lot of ladies will probably take offense to that terminology… myself included. Hockey Broad’s “Open Letter” to SI says it best, absolutely worth the read!

A brief rundown of the situation courtesy of Puck Daddy over at Yahoo Sports:

And Hockey Broad’s well put “open letter” to SI:

The Boston Bruins have done the impossible and won 2 games in a row! That seems to be the tagline on every article circulating the Boston media today. The team had suffered an extremely rocky February but it’s looking like full steam ahead with back to back games this weekend.
