This game was scoreless until the third when Dan Girardi hit his mark for New York beating Martin Brodeur on a power play. Chris Kreider added a second just two minutes later and, with an empty netter extra, the Rangers took New Jersey 3-0. Henrik Lundqvist notched his second shutout of the series with 36 saves; the Devils outshot New York by 14. Game 4 is Monday in Newark with the Rangers up 2-1 in the final.

The LA Kings are unstoppable silencing the Coyotes 2-1, taking Game 3 of the Western Conference final. The Kings need one more win to advance to the Cup up three games to none in the series. Jonathan Quick made 18 saves in the win with Anze Kopitar and Dwight King each recording a goal for LA. Kopitar has been on fire during the playoffs tallying the tying goal in the second while King sealed the deal with the go-ahead early in the third. Can the Kings be stopped? LA hosts Game 4 Sunday afternoon.

New Jersey scored first and capitalized on New York’s mistakes to take Game 2 in the East. Ilya Kovalchuk recorded his sixth goal of the playoffs and David Clarkson scored the game-winner in the third to take the Rangers 3-2 at Madison Square Garden. Martin Brodeur turned away 23 shots including an incredible acrobatic kick save on Marian Gaborik early in the second. Devils host Game 3 on Saturday.

The Kings are two wins away from a chance at the cup. With the offense rocking and the defense as quick as ever the Kings are a favourite for Stanley. Now up two games over Phoenix, LA looks unstoppable. An unhinged Coyotes dropped Game 2 to LA 4-0, marking the Kings 7th straight road victory. Jeff Carter recorded his first career hat-trick this postseason while Jonathan Quick made 24 saves for his second playoff shut-out. The two play again in LA on Thursday.

New York scored three in the third to take Game 1 of the Eastern conference final from New Jersey. Henrik Lundqvist boasted his second shutout of the playoffs and, despite a scoreless first 40 minutes, a tired Rangers team had Martin Broduer’s number last period. Artem Anisimov and Chris Krieder scored for New York while Dan Girardi added an empty-netter in the victory. The two meet again Wednesday at MSG.

Phoenix dropped their first game in a series this playoff march on Mother’s Day. Captain Dustin Brown scored the go-ahead for the Los Angeles in the third who took Game 1, 4-2. Brown has been on fire for LA setting the pace for his Kings who out-shot Phoenix 48-27. Jonathan Quick recouped after giving up the first period lead on a shot from centre ice, making 25 saves. His counter, Mike Smith, let in 3 goals on 47 shots for the Coyotes. Game 2 is set for Tuesday in Arizona.

For the first time in 15 years the New York Rangers are in the conference finals. Just 92 seconds into the game Brad Richards scored for the Blueshirts; fitting as the team to tally first has won all previous six match-ups. In a series decided by one goal for the sixth straight time the Rangers edged ahead 2-1, taking the Caps and forging to the next round. New York will host the Devils on Monday for Game 1 of the Eastern conference final.

Braden Holtby has been outstanding between the pipes for the Washington Capitals; but on his day off yesterday he took on a new job description, father.

Holtby and his fiancee Brandi Bodnar welcomed their first child Benjamin Hunter Holtby into the world. Perhaps following in his fathers skate strides already with an impeccable save percentage; as in saving his birth for a day that didn’t interfere with playoffs. Per the Capitals, Holtby and family are doing just fine.

The Capitals will look to advance to the Eastern Conference finals tomorrow night in a Game 7 showdown with the Rangers at MSG.

In light of the looming game 7 and the fact that we’ve already done a Rangers look; the team look for this week is the Washington Capitals.  This look is a multi-purpose outfit you can take this look from a business casual environment, to dinner with friends, to the game or where ever you need it to.  There are a few elements to this look that timeless and you should always have in your wardrobe. Such as the blazer, a good pair of jeans and your Capitals shirt. This look is very structured and can easily look very masculine; thus the tiny hints of femininity like the bow belt or faux lambskin purse.  The tribal bangle and combat wedge bring elements of modernity to this look. Throw your Capitals lapel pins into the mix and you are supporting your team in style.

As usual if you do not have these exact things you can always swap them out for similar things you own. This look is merely a guideline, mix’n’match, spice it up and make it your own. If you love this look and aren’t a Capitals fan just change the colour scheme, shirt and pins then voila.
