PBruins Skate, Chat and Look Ahead to Opening Night
The Providence Bruins held practice as usual today, with a much deserved twist. After a strenuous training camp, the team participated in drills, but spent a good portion of the 2 hour ice time joking and enjoying the low key practice. The final roster has been dealt and the team will open the season against the Manchester Monarchs tomorrow night.
With development at the forefront of the club, the coaching staff anticipates a better start this season. Of course, high expectations for the club and it’s members will be a factor in it’s continued on ice success. One of those expectations will be falling heavily on new addition Chris Bourque. With a seasoned history of power play success, Coach Cassidy openly expressed his interest in Bourque’s power play abilities. Other Bruins who will heavily factor into the power play this season, David Warsofsky, Craig Cunningham and Carter Camper.

Although the puck has yet to drop, the hopes of a playoff run have taken residency in the locker room.
“Once you’re in, you have a chance to win,” said Cassidy.

The long season to that opportunity begins tomorrow night, and for Bruins fans the upcoming season should be an exciting one. Although fans are faced with a different level of black and gold, they’ll be rooting on a team looking for a success that has escaped them in past years. Other reasons it’s good to be a Providence fan, the team will host the 2013 AHL All Star Game come the new year.
It’s no time like the present for teams to put their best skate forward and rest assured that the entire AHL will look to do that as home openers face off around the league. Who will skate into the 2012-13 season with a win in the books, tomorrow night will tell.
