NHL Players Head to Europe, AHL Pre-Season Skates On
Boston Bruins young star Tyler Seguin will hit the ice in Switzerland during the NHL lockout, tweeting: “Looks like I’m wearing number 9 for EHC Biel in Switzerland till the lockouts done. Excited to play next week. #illmissthebruinsfans” (@tylerseguin92).
Other NHL big names that will enjoy the Switzerland sites, San Jose Sharks Joe Thornton, who played in Switzerland during the 04′ lockout. New York Ranger, Rick Nash will skate alongside Thornton in Switzerland.
It’s been one big name player after another jetting to Europe in an attempt to keep playing while the NHL continues to depress fans that reside on North American soil.
Fans looking for a hockey fix, don’t fret AHL pre-season and camps are about to pickup within the next two weeks. Including, Boston’s AHL affiliate Providence Bruins. Providence will play a pre-season game at the New England Sports Center on Wednesday, October 3rd against the Springfield Falcons (Columbus Blue Jackets).
