While the NHL is locked out, it isn’t the players or the owners suffering financially (well, it is, but under entirely different circumstances.) With millions in the bank, a few months or a season without a paycheck is just a divet in the ice of life. a

A sad but inevitable truth, layoffs were going to happen. The Florida Panthers announced yesterday that among a few employees being let go under the circumstances, none other than Stanley C. Panther the team’s mascot. Stanley has been with the organization from the beginning in 1993.  More teams are bound to follow in Florida’s strides to some extent in the coming weeks.

Many mascots are beloved by fans of all ages and bring a special element to an organization. Hopefully none of Stanley C. Panthers co-workers will be receiving a pink slip.
