Lack of Luck for Boston Bruins
It doesn’t matter which league you play for NHL or AHL; lately, if you wear a black and gold sweater you just can’t get it done.
The NHL Bruins have lost 4 straight, with a precursor of losses before that. Just last night the AHL Bruins lost 5-2 against Worcester Sharks. The game adds to an ever growing tally of losses for Providence, having won only 1 game in the last 9. Although a good majority of the losses have come at a fairly close goal deficit. Providence is looking for a little bit of luck to turn the remainder of the season around. They’ll take on Springfield Falcons at 4:05pm tomorrow March 18th.
While the “cup curse” and “cup hangover” chatter had finally started to simmer down back in December, it’s flared up again in recent weeks and with good reason. Boston has lost 4 straight games, 6 total this month so far and only tallied 3 wins. In the last 2 games alone the goaltending duo of Tim Thomas and Marty Turco has proven shaky allowing 12 goals between them. With the playoffs just around the corner, WINS not losses are a must.
The Bruins will be looking for a lot of luck today when they take on the Philadelphia Flyers. Philadelphia is flying in the win column as they’ve recorded 7 wins in the last 8 games played this month. With goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov getting shutouts in all 3 of his last starts, hopefully the Bruins can shutout his current victory.
The Bruins have a lot of black as of late, perhaps today can be the turning point and they can collect a bit of gold at the end of the rainbow. For now, most of hockey nation is feeling the sentiment: It’s tough to be a Bruins fan.
