One of the two Green Men, Sully, has been awarded the ultimate fan honour being inducted into the ESPN Hall of Fans. His partner in crime, Force, did not make the cut. Maybe Force will be inducted sooner than Pavel Bure. It’s definitely worth looking up the duo, you have not caught a glimpse of the Green Men on numerous Vancouver Canucks highlights.

Here are Sully’s thoughts on their claim to fame:

In 2009, we attended a Vancouver Canucks game in a pair of one piece green suits. It was supposed to be a one time thing and it turned in to a piece of sports pop culture. We have accumulated a great record throughout our 50+ games beside the visitor’s penalty box. Our goal has always been to distract the opposition while getting our fans pumped. Our efforts have landed us on ESPN countless times, including numerous Top Ten lists, PTI, Around The Horn, First Take and many more. Once our popularity grew in the sports world we were able to raise over $15,000 for various charities. As super fans we have followed our team to Nashville, Phoenix, and Boston. Even the Canucks players have acknowledged our contribution to the team. We feel we are “HallOfFan” worthy because of our impact on fans in sports. Since our inception, fans from around the world have donned the suits. They even attempt handstands from time to time. A trip to the Hall would be the sweet icing on our green spandex cake.

Congratulations to the Hall of Fans inaugural class – Emily P (University of Alabama), Larry H (Baltimore Ravens) and Sully O (Vancouver Canucks)!

She was hooked after the first shot off her aluminum Gretzky hockey stick at 13 years old. Growing up playing competitive hockey in Vancouver, British Columbia has inspired her to coach in addition to playing. She is currently the Vice President and Assistant Coach of her alma mater Simon Fraser University for the women's ice hockey club. Upon graduating with a BBA, she has found a way combine her love of sports, mainly hockey, with her career. She has worked with the BC Lions and still works for the Canucks for Kids Fund on game days coordinating one the best 50/50 programs in the NHL. In a nutshell - Ovechkin over Crosby, Vancouver Canucks are my #1, New York Rangers are my #2...and she bakes cakes (the Cake Boss type).
