After a disappointing stint on the road, Toronto returned home only to flop to the Islanders 5-2 Tuesday night.

Phil Kessel and Matthew Lombardi both scored for the Leafs a day after their worst performance this season, losing Monday to Boston 8-0. Toronto has now lost seven of their last nine.

The game was tied 2-2 heading into the third but a powerplay goal by Matt Moulson gave New York the advantage. Less than two minutes later a Leaf offensive turnover sent P.A. Parenteau on the breakaway beating James Reimer and adding to the Islanders’ lead. An empty-net goal by Moulson sealed Toronto’s fate.

Reimer had 29 saves in the loss. The Leafs only shot 14 times on goal.
